I’ve never actually watched Letterman because I’ve always watched Jay Leno. But I did see all over the news this week that he’s been very happy about the drama going on at NBC. He did the “Law & Order: Leno Victims Unit” skit & has made a lot of jokes about Leno.
Am I missing something here? If Letterman is still pissed about not getting The Tonight Show, he should probably get some therapy since it was almost 20 years ago. And I don’t think it helps his case that Leno beat him in ratings for 17 years. Doesn’t that in itself show that Leno was the better choice?
What’s even worse is that since Conan has taken over, Nightline has actually had better ratings than Conan or Letterman. To me, it seems like him bringing up old drama with Jay only makes him look worse. Obviously Jay’s reputation & ratings weren’t affected when he “stole” the show from Letterman.
The way that Conan has been trying to play the sympathy card, I think he’s probably going to act the same way Letterman has. It’s obvious he’s pretending to be another victim of Leno, instead of just admitting that Jay is better than he was. It’s driving me crazy how Conan keeps acting like Jay came out of nowhere & stole his job.
At the end of the day, NBC is a business & they’re going to make business decisions. It just seems like Conan’s Harvard education would help him understand his ratings compared to Jay’s.
